…perfect love casts out fear.
Text 19 Mar 3 notes ignorance is bliss

I wrote this practically 4 years ago, at a time in my life when I was in the process of making a few really big life-altering decisions and stuff. I’m posting this again not because I’m making life altering decisions of the same gravity, but because there have been a few things popping up in my life, in the lives of my friends and in the people I care about… Sometimes, we just need a little reminder.

I used to consider myself a person that could never leave things unanswered.

Every question had a logical answer.
Every event had a logical reason behind it.
I always had to know.

But then I realized that trying to wrap your mind around something associated with the Divine, especially things associated with what’s happening in your life will just make you run in circles. Sometimes it’s better if you just accept what you know… Essentially, being content in knowing that you don’t know.

At first, it was something that I couldn’t get a grasp of.

But… perhaps that is the beauty of our faith. When it comes to things like your life, we’re better off accepting things as they come, as they are. Ignoring that human desire to know and to understand every aspect of our lives can get in the way of the mystery that is His plan. We need to let go of ourselves and that want to understand everything around us, and let Him take care of whatever we need. Everything that we need to know will be revealed to us when we keep an open heart and and open mind, free of any human insecurities and anxieties.

The bottom line?
Let go, and let God.
Ignore that human part of you trying to make sense of your surroundings,
and have faith that you will be taken care of.

Doubt is not necessarily an indication that you are losing faith,
But perhaps a sign that your faith is growing

Text 2 Mar move along

I only have about a month and a half left of my undergraduate degree. For me (and for a lot of other people), it’s a little bit scary because I feel like I’ve spent my entire life in school and for me to suddenly stop would be strange.

Anyway, I’ve come to the realization that the people I’ve become so accustomed to seeing every day for 4-5 years, I may never see again. Some of them are younger than I am and will still be spending a few years in Hamilton after I leave. A few of them will be graduating with me, but live so far away that I would never be able to see them. Some might be working, some might be in grad school… The point is that everyone I’ve been with for the last few years will be going different ways and it’s sorta depressing.

What I’ve decided is that I am going to make the most of the friendships I have now… After all, the friends you have in your last year of university are likely the ones that you’ll remember. I’m not sure if I speak for other people when I say this, but I want to leave a lasting mark on the people I’ve befriended so that if, and when we ever see each other again, we can pick up from where we left off.

I’ll be honest, a lot of the close friends had in high school are all off doing their own thing and we don’t really speak to each other anymore. During my stay at McMaster, I have had the opportunity to befriend some of the most unique, intelligent, mysterious, trustworthy, understanding, down-to-earth people I have ever met. These friendships, at least to me, are ones valuable enough to last past graduation, hopefully for a lifetime.

This applies to every person you come across. Make the most of the time you have now with valuable people in your life to make sure that after everything’s over, they’ll still be around.
